About this opportunity

The Department of Veterans Affairs Veterans Integrated Service Network 8, through its Orlando VA Healthcare System Network Contracting Office (NCO) 8, has published a Special Notice announcing its intent to award a sole-source firm-fixed price contract for Cepheid service and maintenance. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals and is issued under statutory authority 10 USC 2304(c)(1) and Federal Acquisition Regulations 6.302-1, which permits sole-source awards when only one responsible source exists and no other supplies or services will satisfy agency requirements. The anticipated contract will be awarded to Cepheid of Sunnyvale, California, and falls under NAICS code 811210 for electronic and precision equipment repair and maintenance. The procurement is being conducted under Simplified Acquisition Procedures in accordance with FAR 13.501(a) and FAR 13.106-1(b), which allows solicitation from a single source while still maintaining justification requirements.

The contract scope encompasses one base year plus four option years of service and maintenance for Cepheid equipment at the Orlando VA Healthcare System. Interested vendors who believe they possess the technical capability to meet the government's specific requirements are invited to submit a complete technical package providing clear and convincing evidence of their ability to fulfill the need by the deadline of November 14, 2025, at 12:00 PM EST, directed to Contracting Specialist Robert R. Edwards. While there are no specific eligibility restrictions beyond demonstrating technical capability, potential contractors should note that the government will not compensate for any submitted information and that responses will be considered for future procurement source identification rather than this current award. This opportunity represents a strategic mechanism for vendors to demonstrate their qualifications and position themselves for consideration in subsequent government procurements related to medical equipment service and maintenance.
