About this opportunity

The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Veterans Health Administration, specifically the Regional Procurement Office East (RPO East), Network Contracting Office 2 (NCO 2), has issued a Special Notice for a sole-source contract opportunity at the Batavia VA Medical Center. The notice concerns preventative maintenance services for backup power generation systems, focusing on three generators manufactured by Cummins and MTU. The contract is structured for an initial one-year term from July 1, 2025, to June 30, 2026, with provisions for four additional option years. The procurement falls under NAICS code 811310 for commercial and industrial machinery equipment repair and maintenance. Cummins Sales and Service has been identified as the intended sole-source contractor for this maintenance service.

The primary objective of this Special Notice is to secure comprehensive preventative maintenance for the medical center's backup power generation systems, including annual inspections, software updates, troubleshooting, and technical support. Contractors are required to provide on-site service support 24 hours per day, 7 days per week, with a three-hour response time for initial customer contact. While the notice indicates a sole-source intent with Cummins Sales and Service, alternative contractors are permitted to submit written notifications demonstrating their capability to meet the requirements before the response deadline of June 4, 2025, at 12:00 PM. Submissions must be emailed to Nathan.northrup@va.gov, and telephone inquiries are not accepted. The services must satisfy Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) standards for both Cummins and MTU equipment, and the selected contractor must be an authorized service provider for all listed generators. The Apex Accelerator Team is available to provide free assistance to businesses interested in responding to this government notice.
