About this opportunity

The Department of Veterans Affairs Veterans Health Administration Veterans Integrated Service Network 6 is soliciting capability statements for elevator cable and maintenance repair services at the Salem Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Salem, Virginia. The procurement involves securing Building 8's elevator, adjusting and shortening cable ropes as necessary, performing comprehensive system checks, and returning the elevator to operational status. The contractor must provide all labor, materials, equipment, and qualified supervision while complying with VA safety standards, including LOTO (Lock Out Tag Out) procedures, and coordinate with engineering personnel regarding any necessary parts replacements. Capability statements must demonstrate the contractor's qualifications and ability to meet VA requirements and should include company name and address, business size designation, socioeconomic categories, and relevant supporting documentation. Responses are due by March 27, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. Eastern Time and must be submitted to Contract Specialist Dave Hoover at david.hoover5@va.gov with the subject line "Elevator Cable and Maintenance Repair."

This opportunity is set aside exclusively for Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Businesses (SDVOSBC), which restricts competition to qualified service-disabled veteran-owned firms. No incumbent contractor or current award value information is provided in the pre-solicitation notice. The work falls under NAICS Code 238290 (Other Building Equipment Contractors) and Product Service Code J059 (Maintenance/Repair/Rebuild of Equipment—Electrical and Electronic Equipment Components). Performance will take place at the Salem VAMC located at 1970 Roanoke Boulevard, Salem, Virginia 24153, with work occurring inside the building and in attic spaces. The three-day response window indicates this is a rapid capability statement collection phase prior to formal solicitation, allowing the VA to assess market capability before issuing a competitive solicitation.
