Dingell VA Medical Center in Detroit, Michigan. The project involves replacing a leaking oil shaft seal on a York chiller located in the facility's Energy Center, with specific technical requirements including recovering approximately 2,600 lbs of refrigerant, installing a new original equipment manufacturer (OEM) shaft seal, and conducting precise motor and compressor alignment checks. Contractors must possess an Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) recovery license and employ a certified Johnson Controls/York chiller mechanic with verified credentials. Interested businesses are required to submit responses by December 18, 2024, at 3:00 PM Eastern time, providing detailed information such as business name, point of contact, SAM UEI, NAICS code, business size, and socioeconomic status. The contract has no current set-aside designation, and businesses of all sizes are encouraged to respond. The period of performance is scheduled from February 14, 2025, to May 13, 2025, with the government retaining discretion over the exact timeline. Contractors must use only OEM parts and materials, follow all applicable national, state, county, and local codes, and adhere to VA medical center standards. The technical scope includes detailed procedures such as proper lockout/tagout of the chiller, refrigerant recovery and storage, nitrogen charging, shaft seal replacement, alignment verification, leak checking to 500 microns, and final system charging and validation. While no specific award value is mentioned, the complexity of the work suggests a specialized mechanical service contract requiring advanced technical expertise in industrial cooling systems. Interested firms should email their responses to Alexis Alexander at Alexis.Alexander1@va.gov, with the notice emphasizing that this is not a formal request for quote.
