About this opportunity
The Department of Veterans Affairs Veterans Health Administration, Veterans Integrated Service Network 5 issued a sole-source Special Notice on October 23, 2026 for modernization of pneumatic tube system controls at Washington DC VA Medical Center, with a response deadline of August 31, 2026 at 10:00 AM Eastern Time; only TransLogic Corporation (Swisslog Healthcare) is being solicited.
The modernization upgrades the legacy TransLogic CTS630 system from end-of-life Nexus 7.2.5.7 software to Version 8+ IT Security Controls Package to address escalating risks from unavailable replacement parts and planned Nexus software sunsetting. The existing system comprises 16 stations, 12 transfer units, and 2 blowers. TransLogic is identified as the sole qualified original equipment manufacturer for this Version 8 migration.
The contractor shall supply, install, configure, test, and commission all hardware and software, including establishing a new Air Gap network compliant with VA OIT security requirements and FITARA standards; configuring Remote Client and Domain servers; migrating to Version 8 ITS software on a hospital virtual environment; reprogramming all 16 Nexus E-net Touchscreen station panels; installing 16 Mini UPS Battery Backup Retrofit Kits; replacing 14 legacy control boards with IT Security Control Boards featuring encrypted HTTPS, Trusted Platform Module integration, built-in firewalls, and disabled USB ports; providing one spare control board and configuration kit; and delivering minimum four hours of onsite facilities training. Performance is estimated at 90–120 days from Notice to Proceed, with a one-year warranty. Contracting office: Baltimore, MD. Point of contact: CO John Ritter, john.ritter2@va.gov, 843-814-0299.
