About this opportunity
The Department of the Air Force Materiel Command Air Force Sustainment Center is conducting market research through a Sources Sought Synopsis to identify responsible contractors capable of providing compliant Item Unique Identification (IUID) marking equipment to support asset tracking, traceability, accountability, and logistics operations across multiple Air Force installations. The procurement requires new turnkey marking systems with all accessories, documentation, delivery, installation, configuration, training, and acceptance testing, with all-inclusive pricing that covers shipping, taxes, and associated costs delivered FOB destination to Tinker AFB, Robins AFB, and Hill AFB. The equipment must comply with MIL-STD-130N standards and support Data Matrix ECC200 encoding with verification to ISO/IEC 15415 standards, with software required to gain approval on the Air Force Evaluated Product List within 30 days of deficiency notification. Interested parties must submit company profile information including small business status, NAICS codes, employee count, CAGE code, SAM Unique Entity ID, and point of contact details by 1:00 PM EST on March 2, 2026, with questions directed to Ms. Kathryn McKay or Mr. Austin Hurst at the provided email addresses. The evaluation will assess offerors' ability to meet minimum technical specifications, with particular emphasis on proposed alternatives demonstrating functional equivalency to identified baseline technologies.
This procurement is not designated as a set-aside and involves three distinct equipment types: three clamshell-style enclosed DPM laser marking workstations for Tinker AFB, two flatbed CO2 laser engraving/cutting systems for Robins AFB, and eight roll-fed IUID label laser marking systems for Hill AFB, totaling thirteen systems across the three installations. Each Type A workstation requires a minimum 20 W diode-pumped fiber laser with a circular marking field of at least 4-5 inches and Class 1 safety enclosure, Type B systems require minimum 30-40 W CO2 laser power with 24 x 12 inch engraving areas and thermal transfer label printer compatibility, and Type C systems require minimum 20 W air-cooled pulsed fiber lasers with integrated fume extraction and Traceable-IT software. All equipment must be delivered in manufacturer packaging with HEPA filtration fume extraction, Windows 11 control PCs with NIPRNet capability, and integrated verification stations within 30 calendar days of contract award. Contractor responsibilities include one day of on-site training (minimum two days, six hours per day) per system, acceptance testing limited to one business day per system, and a one-year warranty covering parts and labor plus one-year software support. No specific incumbent contractors or award value ranges are identified in the pre-solicitation notice, and no reimbursement will be provided for response costs.
