About this opportunity
Defense Logistics Agency is issuing a Request for Information to gather vendor capability statements for separation and purification of approximately 200 lbs of government-furnished spent 405 catalyst into 99.90% pure iridium metal sponge, with responses due September 1, 2026 at 3:00 PM ET. This RFI is for planning purposes only and does not constitute a commitment to award; responses are non-binding, will not receive feedback, will not be returned, and the government will not reimburse response costs.
The feedstock consists of 3mm to 5mm diameter alumina beads composed of approximately 30% iridium by weight. Potential delivery locations are Hammond Depot (Hammond, IN), Hawthorne Depot (Hawthorne, NV), and Scotia Depot (Scotia, NY). Vendors must submit a capability statement not exceeding 20 pages (single-sided, 12-point font, 1-inch margins) addressing company general information, detailed process descriptions for recovery and purification, process capacity and recovery rates, analytical capabilities, industry market data for both CONUS and OCONUS markets, delivery timelines and capacity, pricing and material market information, and any additional relevant information. Submissions must be emailed to Alicia Barrowman (alicia.barrowman@dla.mil) and Felicia London (felicia.london@dla.mil) with the subject line "RFI - Iridium Metal Sponge Separation and Purification." DLA Strategic Materials representatives may meet with potential offerors only to clarify capability, particularly regarding development and certification risks. The government may use information obtained to develop future acquisition strategies and solicitations.
