About this opportunity
The National Institutes of Health Clinical Center has issued a Notice of Intent to sole source procure two BK Medical E14CL4b Biplane Endocavity transducer Transrectal and Transvaginal probes from GE Precision Healthcare LLC. This is not a formal request for proposal but rather a notice of the agency's intention to negotiate a contract on a non-competitive basis with the specified vendor. The procurement falls under the Electromedical and Electrotherapeutic Apparatus Manufacturing category and is justified under the sole source authority of 41 U.S.C. 253(c)(1), which permits acquisition from one responsible source when no other supply or service will satisfy agency requirements. The posting date is March 4, 2026, and interested parties have a limited window to respond.
The NIH Clinical Center seeks to procure these specialized medical imaging probes to support urgent operational needs, specifically to facilitate multiple prostate biopsy fusion cases in a single day conducted by Dr. Pinto and Dr. Woods. The probes represent an upgrade to existing equipment, offering improved image quality and operational ease of use, with additional units needed due to the relocation of sterile processing operations to the B1 space and the extended turnaround time between cases. Any responsible source capable of providing the required probes may submit a capability statement via email to valerie.gregorio@nih.gov with the subject line reference NOI-OLAO-26-003897 by 12:00 PM Eastern Standard Time on March 6, 2026. All responses received by the closing deadline will be considered by the government, though the determination to proceed with the sole source award or open competition remains solely at the government's discretion. There are no specific set-asides or eligibility restrictions beyond the requirement to demonstrate capability to provide the specified equipment.
