About this opportunity

The Puget Sound Naval Shipyard and Intermediate Maintenance Facility (PSNS & IMF) Contracting Office has published a Special Notice regarding its intent to award a sole-source, firm fixed service contract to General Cable Industries for the lease of a 1000 kW emergency diesel generator (EDG). The contract is expected to be awarded under FAR 13.106-1(b)(1)(i) with a period of performance from approximately July 1, 2024 through September 23, 2024.

The purpose of this Special Notice is to announce the government's intent to sole source the lease of a 1000 kW EDG to support critical reactor redundancy at the naval facility. The EDG is already installed on-site and its current contract will expire before it can be disconnected without risk to the shore power system. Due to this urgent and compelling need, the government has determined that United Rentals is the only reasonably available source. Interested parties may identify their capabilities by June 25, 2024, but this is not a request for competitive quotes. The NAICS code is 532490 - Other Commercial and Industrial Machinery and Equipment Rental and Leasing, with a $40,000,000 small business size standard. The Product Service Code is W060 - Lease or Rental of Equipment.
