About this opportunity
The Department of the Air Force Materiel Command Lifecycle Management Center at Wright Patterson Air Force Base is conducting market research to identify potential sources for an Integrated Quantum Network System. The system requires two complete nodes with advanced quantum communication technologies, including nanowire detection systems, quantum sources, time taggers, and polarization analyzers. Specifically designed to establish a quantum-secure communications link between the Air Force Institute of Technology (AFIT) and Ohio State University, the project supports the National Quantum Initiative Act and Air Force science and technology strategy. Interested firms must submit a five-page capabilities package demonstrating their ability to meet the technical requirements by January 24, 2025, at 3:00 PM Eastern Time. Respondents must email their submissions to danara.barlow@us.af.mil and jessica.stamper.2@us.af.mil with the subject line "Sources Sought - Integrated Quantum Network System".
The procurement is currently not set aside for any specific business classification, though the government reserves the right to consider a small business set-aside based on responses. The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code is 334419 - Other Electronic Component Manufacturing, with a small business size standard of 750 employees. Respondents are requested to indicate their socio-economic status and disclose any foreign ownership or use of foreign national employees. The contract requires delivery and installation of all equipment within 24 weeks of award at AFIT/EN, Wright-Patterson AFB, including on-site training for up to 8 users. The project will be paid 100% upon completion through Wide Area Workflow, with the goal of creating "un-hackable" communications technology impervious to classical and quantum-based eavesdropping. All potential contractors must be registered in the System for Award Management (SAM) database to be eligible for this Department of Defense contract.
