About this opportunity
The U.S. Department of State, Embassy Pretoria, seeks design, fabrication, installation, and commissioning of automatic sliding gate systems and control system upgrades at two embassy vehicle access points (CAC A and CAC D), with tender proposals due September 1, 2026, and a compulsory site meeting on August 26, 2026.
Place of performance is Pretoria, South Africa (877 Pretorius Street, Arcadia). The contractor must have a minimum of five years of documented, successful experience in automated gate systems including new installations and refurbishment projects. CAC A work specifically requires demonstrated expertise in hydraulic system disconnection where existing system preservation is critical; the contractor must provide a detailed hydraulic system survey, mapping, and disconnection plan to ensure zero damage to the Delta barrier hydraulic system while preserving its complete functionality. Both locations require anti-climb gate design, run-out prevention measures, entrapment prevention with dual safety devices, and corrosion-resistant materials suitable for outdoor service.
CAC D involves complete replacement of existing gate leaves (approximately 4.1 meters long and 2.2 meters high), surrounding fence and structure replacement to uniform 2.2-meter height with security spikes, installation of new industrial-duty motors and guidance systems, security booth control panel replacement, and fiber optic connection to Post 1 for remote control capability. CAC A involves refurbishment of existing gate leaves, new maintainable guide wheels and motors matching CAC D specifications, and installation of a new control system.
The anticipated period of performance is ten weeks from award. Contractors must submit expressions of interest by August 24, 2026. The U.S. Embassy issues fixed-price contracts with no deposit payments authorized; payment via electronic funds transfer will be made within 30 calendar days after delivery and invoice receipt. All work must comply with South African occupational health and safety regulations, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers standards, and U.S. Mission South Africa policy.
NAICS code is 3312 (Steel Product Manufacturing from Purchased Steel); PSC code is 5660 (Fencing, Fences, Gates and Components).
