About this opportunity
The Department of Agriculture Forest Service is seeking contractors to install two government-furnished Jotul 300 gas fireplaces at the Beaver Creek A-frame rental cabin in the St. Joe Ranger District-Avery Office. The project involves removing an existing wood stove and installing two propane stoves with chimney flue liners and gas lines, including conversion from natural gas to propane and system testing. The solicitation (RFQ 1284LL25Q0041) falls under NAICS code 238220 for Plumbing, Heating, and Air-Conditioning Contractors, with quotes evaluated based on price and past performance. The period of performance spans from July 15, 2025 to September 30, 2025. Offerors must submit quotes by July 28, 2025 at 3:00 PM Pacific Time, though there appears to be a discrepancy as the posted due date is listed as June 28, 2025.
This procurement is designated as a total small business set-aside, restricting competition to small business concerns. The work site is located at a remote rental cabin approximately 76 miles from St. Maries, Idaho, accessible via a narrow, winding road that requires a high-clearance vehicle for the final 3 miles of gravel terrain. The one-way travel time from the nearest town is approximately 2 hours over 100 miles of challenging roadway. The Forest Service will provide the two Jotul 300 gas fireplaces as government-furnished equipment, with the contractor responsible for installation, gas line work, and chimney flue liner installation. The technical point of contact for this project is Mike Frost, and the work involves upgrading heating systems in a public rental facility operated by the Forest Service.
