About this opportunity

SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory, operated by Stanford University for the Department of Energy Office of Science, is seeking to procure an Infinite Helium Plus unit with a separated cryostat for its beamline 5-4 at SSRL. The specific requirement is for a cryogen-free closed cycle refrigerated system that is fully compatible with an existing Janis ST-400 cryostat, with critical technical specifications including 2 W cooling power at 4.2 K, a base temperature below 2.6 K, and a water-cooled compressor. Vendors must be registered in the System for Award Management (SAM) and provide a price and lead time quotation by close of business on March 25, 2025. The source selection will be conducted using the Lowest Price Technically Acceptable (LPTA) method, with emphasis on technical compatibility, cooling power, base temperature, and fully automated operations. Vendors are required to properly mark any proprietary or confidential information and submit a comprehensive technical compliance statement.

The solicitation does not indicate any specific set-aside designations and is open to domestic suppliers. The procurement is for a single unit (Qty-1) with the item number XC-JDC-INFHE-S-20-57533, to be delivered to the SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory located in West Menlo Park, California 94025. Payment terms are net 30 days, with freight terms of FOB Destination Prepaid and Add. The contract will be performed in accordance with SLAC's Terms and Conditions for Fixed Price Commercial Supplies and Services dated August 2023. While no specific award value is disclosed, the procurement involves a sophisticated scientific instrument for research purposes, suggesting a potentially significant investment. The solicitation requires a modular design that allows for close mounting of the cooling cryostat to the existing ST-400 cryostat, with a fully automated touchscreen interface and vendor-supplied software featuring API integration capabilities.
