About this opportunity
The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), through its Office of Facilities Acquisition and Office of Construction and Facilities Management, has issued a Special Notice for an Industry Day focused on constructing laundry facilities in San Juan, Puerto Rico. The notice stems from a 2021 structural analysis that found the existing San Juan Veterans Affairs Medical Center (VAMC) laundry facility does not comply with seismic standards for earthquake events. In response, the VA is seeking to identify qualified firms capable of constructing new laundry facilities to serve the medical center. The current facility processes approximately 2.13 million pounds of soiled linens annually, with a projected 10-year need of around 2.01 million pounds per year. The Industry Day will be held virtually and in-person on December 11 & 12, 2024, providing an opportunity for potential contractors to engage with VA representatives.
Contractors interested in participating must register by November 29, 2024, at 3:00 P.M. ET by submitting a cover sheet, company description, and capabilities statement to specified VA contacts. The registration is limited to three attendees per firm, with at least one attendee possessing a technical background to address government questions. Eligible firms should provide a non-binding statement of interest detailing their experience in constructing laundry facilities, including company information such as years in business, company size, and socioeconomic status. The VA is particularly interested in firms with expertise in constructing commercial and institutional buildings, as indicated by the NAICS code 236220. This Industry Day does not constitute a formal solicitation and does not commit the government to enter into a contract. The objective is to evaluate potential community partners and explore viable solutions for replacing the current seismically deficient laundry facility at the San Juan VAMC.
