About this opportunity

The Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) issued a Special Notice on September 19, 2024, announcing an upcoming Multiple Award Task Order Contract (MATOC) for construction work in Idaho, Montana, and surrounding areas. The solicitation will be evaluated based on contractor pricing for a sample project located at Glacier National Park's West Glacier Headquarters in Flathead County, Montana. This Special Notice serves as advance notification to prospective offerors about the upcoming MATOC opportunity, which will be fully advertised during the winter of 2024/2025 on the SAM website. The sample project will not be awarded as a contract; rather, it is used solely for evaluating contractor pricing capabilities. The FHWA is providing preliminary plans and project details to enable interested contractors to develop accurate cost proposals.

The sample project, designated MT NP GLAC P HQ(3), involves parking area rehabilitation work including sub-excavation, grading, drainage improvements, base preparation, paving, pavement milling, curbing, and exposed aggregate sidewalks. The FHWA encourages prospective offerors to visit the project site during fall 2024 to assess conditions; after November 8, access becomes weather-dependent and requires coordination with FHWA Kalispell region office manager Knud Martin at 206-229-0552 or knud.martin@dot.gov. Technical questions regarding the project should be submitted to wfl.plans-spec@dot.gov, while general inquiries can be directed to wfl.contracts@dot.gov or 360-619-7520. Contractors interested in the MATOC opportunity should register on SAM and use the "Follow" feature to receive automatic notification when the full solicitation is released. No specific eligibility criteria are outlined in this Special Notice; interested contractors should monitor SAM for the official solicitation documents expected in winter 2024/2025.
