About this opportunity
NASA's Shared Services Center seeks procurement of RED Digital Cinema V-Raptor X and V-Raptor XL camera systems with associated lenses for high-speed digital imaging in support of Artemis III and Artemis IV launch operations, with quotes due July 17, 2026 at 3:00 p.m. Central Time. This is a total small business set-aside and brand name procurement; only the specified V-Raptor systems meet NASA's mandatory technical requirements.
Place of performance is NASA Kennedy Space Center, Florida, with delivery to Building M6-744 within 30 days after receipt of order. The procurement comprises four line items totaling eight units: two NIKKOR Z 135mm f/1.8 S Plena lenses, one NIKKOR Z 26mm f/2.8 pancake lens, three V-RAPTOR [X] Z Mount camera bodies (part number 710-0419-00), and two V-RAPTOR XL [X] 8K VV camera bodies with V-Locks (part number 710-0394).
The V-Raptor systems are sole-source justified because they alone provide the dynamic range to capture both flame luminosity and shadowed structures, high-speed frame rates comparable to legacy film cameras, and environmental resilience to mechanical, thermal, acoustic, vibration, and EMI/EMC conditions at Launch Pad B and Mobile Launcher-1. Market research confirmed no alternatives meet mandatory criteria. Substituting other systems would require additional testing, redesign, new cabling and interfaces, backend re-architecture, and integration cycles, risking critical schedule milestones including Artemis III Wet Dress Rehearsal prototype completion, Pad B installation (early November 2026), Technical Readiness Review (early December 2026), and System Acceptance Review (January 2027).
Award will be made to the responsible offeror with the lowest price technically acceptable offer. Quotes must remain valid for 30 days. Technical and contractual questions are due July 16 by 3:00 p.m. CT to Kacey Hickman at Kacey.l.hickman@nasa.gov. All offerors must be registered at SAM.gov. NAICS code is 334310; PSC is 6695.
