About this opportunity
The 22nd Contracting Squadron of the Department of the Air Force Air Mobility Command is conducting market research for hood and duct cleaning services at McConnell Air Force Base in Kansas. This Sources Sought announcement seeks to identify qualified vendors capable of providing comprehensive exhaust system cleaning for seven different base facilities, including the Base Exchange, Airman's Dining Facility, and Child Development Centers. The cleaning services must comply with NFPA National Fire Code #96 and involve thoroughly cleaning exhaust systems, hoods, grease removal devices, fans, ducts, and filters to bare metal surfaces. Responses to this pre-solicitation notice are due by April 15, 2025, at 2:00 PM CST, and must be submitted via email to A1C Warnage Fonseka and Haley Frierdich. The government emphasizes that this is a market research effort only, and no pricing information should be included in responses.
The opportunity is designated as a Total Small Business set-aside, targeting small business contractors within the NAICS category 561790 (Other Services to Buildings and Dwellings). While no specific award value is mentioned, the scope involves quarterly and annual cleaning services across multiple base facilities, with precise cleaning requirements including removal of combustible contaminants to a minimum depth of 50 mm. Contractors will need to navigate strict base security protocols, including background checks and identification passes for personnel and vehicles. The work will be performed during normal duty hours (12:00 AM - 11:59 PM, Monday through Friday), with coordination required from the base fire department, which will conduct post-cleaning inspections. Each cleaning session will require signed inspection checklists from the contractor, using agency, and fire department representative.
