About this opportunity
NASA's Shared Services Center issued a sole-source special notice on September 28, 2026, for the purchase of a High Vacuum Gas Sorption Analyzer, with capability statements due by 7:00 a.m. Central Standard Time on September 29, 2026. The Government intends to award to Anton Paar USA, Inc., under FAR 12.102(a), as the sole identified provider meeting NASA's technical requirements.
The procurement covers one Autosorb 6100 three-station physisorption analyzer designed to measure specific surface area and pore size distributions from 0.35 to 500 nanometers, with 3 micropore analysis stations, 6 degassing stations, TruZone active coolant level control, and precision manifold temperature control. The package includes physisorption kits, cell handling accessories, six Type A long cells, surface area reference materials for system validation, installation services by qualified Anton Paar personnel, and end-user training with certificates. Performance will be completed within 4–6 weeks after receipt of order at NASA Glenn Research Center, Cleveland, Ohio.
The sole-source determination establishes that the Autosorb 6100 uniquely meets NASA's requirements for high-accuracy polymer aerogel characterization through high-vacuum volumetric gas adsorption, exceptional low-pressure sensitivity, advanced micropore analysis, and PowderProtect technology. Alternative vendors lack this capability combination, and selecting competitors would introduce significant technical, schedule, and cost risks and incompatibility with established testing procedures and historical datasets.
Interested vendors must submit written capability statements only—no oral communications or quotes—to Shanna L. Patterson at Shanna.L.Patterson@nasa.gov, referencing the Notice ID. NASA reserves the right not to compete based on responses received. NAICS 334516; FAR Part 12 commercial procedures apply.
