About this opportunity
The National Institutes of Health Office of Logistics and Acquisition Operations intends to solicit Hamamatsu photomultiplier modules (model H15620-25), controllers (model C16137), and associated cabling by July 30, 2026. No set-aside applies.
The hardware will support a custom-built adaptive optics scanning laser ophthalmoscope (AOSLO) system operating at the NEI Clinical Space OP10 facility. The near-infrared photomultiplier sensors enable detection of retinal biomarkers not achievable with commercial retinal imaging devices, supporting ongoing clinical studies and trials focused on retinal disease imaging and patient outcomes. The procurement reflects a hardware refresh and upgrade cycle for the existing AOSLO system to maintain compliance with NEI clinical study protocols.
A Statement of Work attachment was posted with the notice. Prospective vendors may review the SOW and submit questions or expressions of interest by the July 30, 2026 deadline. NAICS 335999 (All Other Miscellaneous Electrical Equipment and Component Manufacturing) and PSC 6505 (Drugs and Biologicals) apply.
Notice text
THE CUSTOM-BUILD AOSLO AT NEI CLINICAL SPACE OP10 HAS BEEN USED FOR PATIENTS IMAGING IN THE PAST A FEW YEARS TO STUDY RETINAL DISEASE. THE SOSLO SYSTEM REQUIRES REGULA UPDATE AND REFRESHING OF HARDWARE TO COMPLIES WITH NEI CLINICAL STUDIES AND CLINICAL TRAILS.
THESE NEAR INFRARED PHOTOMULTIPLIER SENSORS FOR THE EXISTING CUSTOM-BUILT AOSLO WILL ENABLE THE SYSTEM TO HAVE POTENTIALS TO FIND NEW RETINAL BIOMARKERS THAT CAN'T BE FOUND COMMERCIAL RETINAL IMAGING DEVICES, HENCE THE POTENTIALS TO EXPEDITE CLINICAL STUDIES AND CLINICAL TRIALS.
