About this opportunity

The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), specifically Network Contracting Office 19, is seeking potential sources for Life Safety Devices Inspection, Testing and Maintenance (ITM) services for the Salt Lake City VA Medical Center in Utah. The contract involves comprehensive safety equipment management, including inspection of 555 fire extinguishers, 75 AEDs, and 75 emergency eyewash/shower stations across 29 buildings, following specific standards like NFPA 10, NFPA 101, TJC, and ANSI Z358.1. This Sources Sought synopsis is designed to gather information about potential qualified contractors and their business size classifications under NAICS code 339112, with a size standard of 1,000 employees. All potential offerors must be registered in the System for Award Management (SAM), and veteran-owned businesses must also be registered in the SBA VetCert Registry. Written inquiries will be accepted via email until January 22, 2025, at 2:00 pm MDT, with responses used to inform the government's acquisition strategy.

The pre-solicitation notice does not indicate a specific set-aside for small businesses, though it solicits information from various business types including small businesses, HUBZone firms, 8(a) businesses, service-disabled veteran-owned businesses, and large businesses. The contract will have a period of performance consisting of one base year and four option years, providing potential stability for the selected contractor. While no specific award value is mentioned, the comprehensive scope of services for multiple safety devices across 29 buildings suggests a significant contract opportunity. Potential contractors will need to demonstrate capability to conduct monthly, annual, and semi-annual inspections of critical life safety equipment, with a focus on maintaining compliance with national safety standards. The VA will use the responses to this synopsis to determine the most appropriate acquisition approach, but this notice does not constitute a formal solicitation and does not guarantee future contract award.
