About this opportunity

The Department of the Interior's Interior Business Center is seeking market research information regarding comprehensive security guard and housekeeping services for the Department of the Interior Headquarters Building, classified under NAICS code 561612 (Security Guards and Patrol Services) and PSC code S206 (Housekeeping Guard). This Request for Information (RFI) is designed to identify potential small business sources capable of providing armed and unarmed security officers to perform duties including perimeter entry/exit control, roving patrols, traffic control, key management, electronic security system monitoring, and emergency response. Key requirements include stringent personnel qualifications such as background investigations, drug screening, physical fitness tests, and comprehensive training in weapons handling, CPR, active shooter response, and emergency protocols. The government is conducting this market research to identify potential sources and assess market capability before determining the acquisition method; no contract will be awarded as a result of this RFI, and responses are strictly voluntary with no compensation provided for submitted information. Responses must be submitted via email by January 12, 2026, at 12:00 PM Eastern Time to Contracting Officer Jonathan Chisholm and Contracting Specialist Breanne Walters.

This procurement is not designated as a set-aside and no incumbent contractor information has been disclosed in this RFI notice. The draft Statement of Work is subject to change, and vendors are encouraged to provide feedback and recommendations on the proposed requirements, including strategies for mitigating personnel turnover challenges specific to the Washington, DC location. No specific award value or budget range has been disclosed at this pre-solicitation stage, as the government is still in the market research phase to assess capability, availability, and the adequacy of potential small business sources. Respondents are asked to provide detailed organizational information, relevant NAICS and PSC codes, capabilities aligned with the draft Statement of Work, and information regarding existing government contract vehicles they may utilize for performance. Acknowledgment of receipt and evaluation results will not be provided to respondents, emphasizing that this RFI serves purely as a planning and information-gathering tool prior to formal solicitation.
