About this opportunity

The 439th Security Forces Squadron of the Department of the Air Force Reserve Command is soliciting bids for a Group 2 unmanned aircraft system (UAS) procurement. The requirement encompasses procurement of one multi-rotor hexacopter aircraft constructed of carbon fiber with six brushless motors and an advanced autopilot system equal to or exceeding Pixhawk Blue Cube capability, along with initial operator training and a yearly maintenance plan for hardware and software support. The aircraft must weigh between 20 and 25 pounds, achieve a maximum cruise speed of 40 mph, carry a 5-pound payload, maintain a minimum battery life of 45 minutes, and operate at a minimum distance of 4 miles with emergency parachute recovery capability. The government will issue a single-award, Firm Fixed Price contract evaluated using Lowest Price Technically Acceptable (LPTA) criteria, requiring 100% conformance to the Performance Work Statement and completion of the Drone CLIN Structure document. The solicitation was posted on March 23, 2026, with an original deadline of April 13, 2026, and an amendment was issued on March 26, 2026 to clarify that hexacopter specification is mandatory and not flexible.

This opportunity is designated as a Total Small Business set-aside, restricting competition to small business entities. No incumbent contractor is identified in the solicitation materials. The procurement is structured with three contract line items: CLIN 0001 for the drone unit, CLIN 0002 for initial training capped at $1,000 (fully inclusive of all contractor travel and lodging expenses), and CLIN 0003 for first-year maintenance services. The required delivery date for the UAS system is August 2026. All performance and training activities will take place at Westover Air Reserve Base in Building 2510 in Chicopee, Massachusetts 01022, or at a pre-approved Air Force offsite maintenance facility. Offerors must submit completed pricing through the CLIN structure template and provide a detailed specification sheet for the proposed drone system to be considered for award.
