About this opportunity

The U.S. Army Contracting Command at Picatinny Arsenal is conducting a Request for Information (RFI) for the Grenadier Sighting System (GSS), a specialized targeting optic for the M320/M320A1 Grenade Launcher. This market survey aims to identify potential prime contractors with capabilities to develop or provide the GSS, which must meet rigorous military specifications for optical performance, night capabilities, and environmental durability. Interested companies are required to submit comprehensive technical information, including company details, production capabilities, product specifications, and performance characteristics by 3:00 PM EST on April 7th, 2025. The RFI invites firms to provide technical documentation such as brochures, manuals, demonstration videos, and detailed environmental performance data covering shock sensitivity, vibration, moisture resistance, and temperature tolerances. Responses should be submitted through SAM.gov, with written questions accepted via email to the designated contract specialist and contracting officer.

The pre-solicitation notice indicates no specific set-aside classifications for this procurement, suggesting the opportunity is open to all qualified vendors. While no specific award value is mentioned, the technical requirements suggest a high-precision military optics procurement with stringent performance standards. The GSS must be lightweight (under 11 ounces), compatible with M16A4 and M4A1 weapons, and capable of functioning in extreme temperatures ranging from -40°C to +60°C. The system requires unity sight capabilities with an illuminated red reticle, near-infrared aiming lasers, and integrated ballistic compensation. Vendors are expected to demonstrate the ability to produce a system that can survive 1,500 mean rounds between essential function failures and maintain accuracy through multiple weapon firing cycles. The government emphasizes that this is a market survey and not a formal solicitation, with no commitment to issue a subsequent Request for Proposal.
