About this opportunity

The National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA) is seeking to procure dynamic gravity meters for airborne and marine geophysical survey applications to update their current inventory. The agency requires ITAR restriction-free gravity collection systems capable of measuring the earth's gravitational field for global and regional gravity models. Contractors must be able to manufacture meters with specific technical specifications, including a minimum range of 20,000 mGals, drift not exceeding 3 mGals/month, and system performance resolution of at least 0.01 mGals. Interested companies are required to submit a comprehensive white paper of no more than 12 pages by May 16, 2025, at 5:00 pm ET, to be emailed to Ryan Switzer and Nate Huber. The RFI seeks detailed information about potential contractors' administrative capabilities, business type, technical experience, and potential pricing structures.

The procurement does not currently have a specific small business set-aside, though small business opportunities may be considered. The potential contract is structured as a five-year agreement with one base year and four option years, with an estimated three meters to be delivered annually. Each gravity meter system will include five rugged laptops with proprietary software, comprehensive owner's manuals, and three days of training per meter. The systems must operate in temperatures between 5C to 50C and be designed for use in small aircraft and marine vessels. Deliverables will include fully functional gravity meter systems, control system computers, perpetual software licenses, spare parts, and a two-year parts and labor warranty. While no specific award value is mentioned, the contract aims to support NGA's Earth Gravitational Model through a meter loan program for academic, government, and private sector research.

Notice text

NGA is looking to update their gravity meter inventory with new, ITAR restriction-free gravity meters. NGA is therefore seeking a company that is capable of manufacturing and servicing airborne and marine gravity collection systems for use in small-type aircraft and marine vessels respectively to perform geophysical surveys to collect the magnitude of the earth’s gravity field for global and regional gravity models.
