About this opportunity

Ames National Laboratory seeks to acquire a glove box with purification system for storing high-value and oxygen-sensitive materials, with proposals due September 24, 2026 at 4:00 p.m. Central Time. This is an unrestricted, full and open competition procurement on a Firm Fixed Price basis, evaluated using Lowest Price, Technically Acceptable (LPTA) methodology. Questions are due September 10 at 4:00 p.m.

Place of performance is Ames, Iowa. The glove box must meet specifications in Appendix C, including a stainless steel 304 chamber with minimum dimensions of 1200 mm length by 740 mm width by 900 mm height, operating at 110/220 VAC switchable (110 VAC only is acceptable per Q&A clarification), with a vacuum pump capacity exceeding 8.5 CFM (8.4 CFM Edwards RV12 is acceptable), achieving final purity of less than 1 ppm oxygen and less than 1 ppm water concentration, and obtaining NRTL certification before delivery. The system must include automated water and oxygen removal using BASF R3-11 Copper Catalyst and Honeywell UOP molecular sieve (or acceptable alternatives per Q&A), and must be deliverable within 9 months. Lexan polycarbonate with MR10 scratch and solvent-resistant coating is acceptable as an alternative to tempered glass if offering equal or better resistance. A solvent trap add-on must be quoted with specified parameters. Working gas shall be argon as the primary option with nitrogen as an acceptable alternative.

Offerors may propose educational discounted pricing or pricing from GSA Federal Supply Schedules, NASA SEWP contracts, DOE ICPT Basic Ordering Agreements, or Supply Chain Management Center agreements. Evaluation considers meeting specifications and ability to deliver within 9 months; past performance is rated acceptable or unacceptable. Offerors must register in SAM.gov and submit Representations and Certifications Supplemental forms, obtain General Liability and Automobile Liability insurance of $1,000,000 each with Ames Laboratory and the U.S. Government as additional insureds, and comply with DOE environmental, safety, and health regulations including 10 CFR 851. The NAICS code is 334516, Analytical Laboratory Instrument Manufacturing; PSC code is 6640, Laboratory Equipment and Supplies. Anticipated award date is September 28, 2026.
