About this opportunity
The Department of the Army Materiel Command Mission and Installation Contracting Command Fort Drum is soliciting a complete GC300 Laser Cleaning System Package, a Class 4 laser system manufactured by G.C. Laser Systems Inc. with an output power of 300W and wavelength of 1064nm. The procurement includes a Fumex Inc. fume extractor (Model FA5-2) and a comprehensive accessories package featuring laser safety equipment, a 12-foot by 12-foot portable enclosure booth with interlocked door, laser cleaning cube, protective windows, spare scan lens, and laser safety glasses for up to 10 users. A critical requirement is the inclusion of a two-day onsite training course delivered by a Certified Laser Safety Officer for up to 10 personnel, with remote online training available as an alternative, plus mandatory online training components. The system must be configured to operate with the existing YPG Robotic Laser Cleaning Copper Crusher Gauge System. The solicitation was posted on January 16, 2026, with a proposal due date of January 23, 2026, providing potential bidders with seven days to prepare and submit their responses.
This is a Total Small Business set-aside solicitation, restricting competition to small business entities as defined by the Small Business Administration. The contract will be performed at 301 C Street, Yuma, Arizona 85365, and falls under NAICS code 333517 (Machine Tool Manufacturing) and PSC code 3450 (Machine Tools, Portable). Both the GC-300 laser system and the Fumex fume extractor are manufactured in the United States, meeting domestic content requirements. The solicitation does not explicitly state an award value or budget range, though the comprehensive nature of the system package—including multiple accessories, equipment, training services, and engineering integration—suggests a significant procurement. No incumbent contractor or prior award recipient is identified in the available documentation.

Only the laser operator, who enters the cube from the opening at the back wears laser safety goggles and everyone else can stand approximately 180 degrees around the front of the cube. No one stands behind the cube unless they have laser goggles on, and the cube should be positioned so that the back is facing a curtain or a wall and observers can only see it from the front and sides. A fume extractor is inserted into the cube from the back as well. The laser is only fired at samples or parts inside the middle of this cube that are placed on the bottom surface. Three sides and the top of the cube are made of laser safety windows. The laser safety windows in this cube have an OD of 9+ @1064nm. A standard cube measures 48? x 48? and is 48? tall. Other custom size cubes can be made on request. Materials being cleaned should be placed at the bottom of the cube so the laser is fired downward. The laser operator wears laser goggles while cleaning a sample inside the cube and anyone standing in front of the cube (in the green zone) does not need to wear laser goggles as they are viewing the process through the laser safety windows.
