About this opportunity

The Department of the Air Force Headquarters District Washington intends to solicit a concert venue for the United States Air Force Band's Guest Artist and Jazz Heritage concert series, with performance dates beginning November 18, 2026. This is market research toward a sole-source procurement; the government is identifying alternative potential sources and gauging vendor interest. Northern Virginia Community College's Rachel M. Schlesinger Concert Hall & Arts Center is explicitly excluded from consideration.

The venue must be located within 15 miles of Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling in the National Capital Region and accommodate an audience of at least 900 people on a stage of at least 2,500 square feet. The government specifies distinctive acoustic and tonal requirements: the space must possess a unique balance of tonal color and acoustical timbre complementary to the ensemble, with capacity for both performers and production equipment. The venue must be available for all requested dates without splitting across multiple locations; performance dates include November 18 and 19, 2026, and seven additional two-day sessions running February through April 2027.

Required equipment and services include a 9-foot concert grand piano tuned daily for each performance, rehearsal, and recording; DLP projector with 12' x 16' screen or cyclorama; professional lighting (four hung and focused stage lights, two follow spots); 60 music stands and 60 chairs; eight 4' x 8' seated risers; stage blacks; marley dance floor; back-of-house personnel; custodial and security services; and complimentary on-site event parking. NAICS 711310; PSC X1AB.

Notice text

The USAF Band requires a concert venue that can accommodate an audience of at least 900 people. The venue must have professional lighting, staging, and production capability to support audio and video recordings. Our audio engineering team has specified that the stage must be at least 2,500 square feet. In order to establish a series and develop an audience with a consistent time and location, the USAF Band cannot split venues across the series, and therefore requires the venue to be available for all the requested dates. Government requires a performance space with a unique balance of tonal color and acoustical timbre that is complimentary to the ensemble and has enough space to accommodate the performers as well as equipment used in the production. Additionally, the venue must be within 15 miles of Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling to accommodate trucking equipment.
