About this opportunity
NASA's National Shared Services Center (NSSC) is seeking to procure a Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometer (GC-MS) Instrument for the Planetary Environments Laboratory at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center. The procurement is specifically for an Agilent 8890/5977C system to support critical research objectives, including analyzing planetary environments and conducting wet chemistry experiments for the Sample Analysis at Mars (SAM) instrument. The contract will be awarded using the Lowest Price Technically Acceptable (LPTA) method, which means the government will select the responsible offeror whose offer conforms to solicitation requirements at the lowest price. Interested organizations must submit their capabilities and qualifications in writing by May 19, 2025, at 12:00 p.m. Eastern Standard Time to the designated point of contact. Offerors must be registered in SAM, provide their CAGE code, and submit two points of contact with their quote.
The pre-solicitation notice indicates this is a sole-source contract intended for Agilent Technologies Inc., with no specific set-aside designation. The contract falls under NAICS code 334516 for Analytical Laboratory Instrument Manufacturing and PSC category 6640 for Laboratory Equipment and Supplies. The GC-MS system must include specific technical capabilities, such as a split/splitless injector, multimodal inlet, programmable oven temperature range, and mass spectrometry features. The procurement requires a workstation with MassHunter and ChemStation software, an installation kit, 1-year software updates, and familiarization training. Delivery is specified as 4 weeks after receipt of order, with installation planned at NASA Goddard in Greenbelt, Maryland. While no specific award value is mentioned, the contract is targeted to support ongoing Mars exploration research, particularly for continuing investigations in Gale Crater.
