About this opportunity
The Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base is seeking to procure a comprehensive upgrade and expansion of its existing Gantner Data Acquisition (DAQ) system, which is used for structural validation testing of aerospace components. The system will capture critical data streams including temperature, load, displacement, and strain measurements to assess component behavior under operational and extreme conditions. The contractor must provide specific Gantner hardware components including bridge modules, voltage measurement modules, thermocouple modules, digital input modules, industrial controllers, serial cables, terminal blocks, and configuration software dongles in precisely specified quantities. The procurement is being conducted as a sole source award with brand name justification, based on Gantner Instruments' unique technical capabilities for physical channel isolation, scalable large quantity channel counts, real-time graphical displays, and compatibility with existing government-owned equipment. The solicitation was posted on March 13, 2026, with an amendment issued on March 16, 2026, and proposals are due by April 13, 2026.
This opportunity is designated as a Total Small Business set-aside. The estimated contract value is $714,255.00, with an estimated delivery date of July 24, 2026, and funding provided through FY2026 Research, Development, Test & Evaluation (RD&E) funds. The contract will be awarded as a single Fixed Price (FFP) CLIN with no options. The extensive bill of materials includes four Q.raxx XL A136 Bridge Modules, twenty-three Q.raxx XL slimline A116 Bridge Modules, eleven voltage measurement modules, fifty-one thermocouple modules, eight digital input modules, eight 19-inch rack units, seven industrial controllers, two EtherCAT industrial controllers, various serial cables and terminal components, ninety-six blank cover plates, and six configuration software dongles. Performance of work will take place at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base (WPAFB), Ohio 45433, with the project supporting the Full Scale Structural Testing Facility located in Building 65.
