About this opportunity

The United States Marine Corps (USMC) is conducting market research through a Sources Sought (SS) notice to identify qualified businesses capable of providing comprehensive maintenance and inspection services for firefighting and personal protective equipment. The solicitation targets inspection, testing, cleaning, certification, calibration, repairs, and maintenance services for Fire and Emergency Services (F&ES) departments across multiple Marine Corps installations, including MCB Camp Pendleton, MCLB Barstow, MCAS Miramar, and MCAGCC 29 Palms. The procurement is classified under NAICS category 811310 for commercial and industrial machinery equipment repair and maintenance, with a specific Product Service Code (PSC) J042 focused on firefighting, rescue, and safety equipment maintenance. The pre-solicitation notice was posted on May 14, 2025, with responses due by May 28, 2025, indicating a relatively short window for potential contractors to express interest and demonstrate their capabilities. While specific evaluation criteria are not explicitly detailed in the notice, the government will likely assess respondents' technical expertise, past performance, and ability to service multiple Marine Corps locations.

The pre-solicitation notice does not indicate a specific set-aside designation, suggesting the opportunity is open to a broad range of qualified contractors. No incumbent contractors are mentioned in the available documentation, and precise award values or budget ranges are not specified. The procurement appears to be for fiscal year 2025 and will cover maintenance services across five different Marine Corps installations in California. The draft Performance Work Statement (PWS) attached to the notice suggests a comprehensive, multi-site contract that will require contractors to have robust capabilities in firefighting and emergency services equipment maintenance. The geographical spread of the contract (spanning multiple Marine Corps bases) implies a need for contractors with significant logistical capabilities and potentially regional or national reach. Interested businesses will need to carefully review the attached documents, particularly the draft PWS, to fully understand the scope and requirements of this potential procurement opportunity.
