About this opportunity
The 22nd Contracting Squadron at McConnell Air Force Base is conducting market research through a Sources Sought announcement to identify qualified vendors capable of providing tool etching services for the 22 LRS Vehicle Maintenance unit. The Department of the Air Force Air Mobility Command requires etching services for chrome tools contained within 8 snap-on toolboxes, with each toolbox receiving unique identification markings (MKVM8001 through MKVM8008) and individual tools within each toolbox requiring specific letters and numbers etched onto them. Contractors must be capable of etching tools in various styles and shapes and must complete work during normal business hours (0700-1600, Monday-Friday), excluding federal holidays and wing down days. This announcement is purely for market research purposes and does not constitute a solicitation or commitment by the government, with no evaluation criteria specified since responses are not quotes or proposals. Interested parties must submit capability statements by July 22, 2025 at 10:00am CST to designated Air Force contacts, with pricing information specifically prohibited in responses.
This opportunity is designated as a Total Small Business set-aside under NAICS code 332710 (Machine Shops) and PSC code K051 (Modification Of Equipment- Hand Tools). The comprehensive tool inventory encompasses 971 individual tools across 19 drawers, including wrenches, sockets, drill bits, screwdrivers, pliers, hammers, and specialized equipment, with most tools carrying lifetime warranties. The contractor must schedule delivery within 30 days of contract acceptance and coordinate with the primary point of contact, Kellie Smith from 22LRS/LGRV, for delivery and pickup arrangements. No incumbent contractors, award values, or budget ranges are specified in this pre-solicitation notice, as the government is solely gathering market intelligence to determine the availability of qualified vendors before potentially proceeding with a formal solicitation process.
