About this opportunity

The Department of the Air Force's Air Education and Training Command is seeking sources for 100 cooling vests for the 42d Security Forces Squadron at Maxwell Air Force Base in Alabama. The cooling vests must provide protection against extreme heat during operations, with specific technical requirements including machine washability, removable freezer inserts, 1-3 hours of cooling capacity, and a weight under 6 pounds. Vests must be adjustable from XS to XXL and available in multiple color options such as black, tan, coyote brown, and the Air Force Operational Camouflage Pattern. This is a sources sought synopsis, meaning vendors are asked to provide capability information rather than quotes, with responses due by 12:00 P.M. Central Daylight Time on March 25, 2025. The government will use submitted information to determine the appropriate acquisition strategy and potentially incorporate elements into a future solicitation.

This pre-solicitation notice does not include a specific set-aside designation and contains no information about incumbent contractors or precise award values. The procurement targets 100 cooling vests to be delivered to the 42d Security Forces Squadron Supply Section, with the primary objective of preventing heat-related illnesses and maintaining personnel performance in summer temperatures frequently exceeding 90°F. Interested vendors are encouraged to submit general company information, including business type classification, NAICS code details, and documentation demonstrating their capability to meet the draft Statement of Requirements. The government has explicitly stated that respondents will not be reimbursed for response costs, and no proprietary or competition-sensitive information should be submitted. Responses should be emailed to contract specialists Mr. William Griffiths and Mr. William Stallings at Maxwell Air Force Base.
