About this opportunity
The Bureau of Land Management is seeking a contractor to perform mechanical thinning and fuels management services for the FY2025 Copper Hill Mechanical Treatment Project in Socorro County, New Mexico. This forestry support work involves hand-cutting vegetation, reducing tree density, creating appropriate spacing between trees, and managing slash to reduce wildfire risks in the wildland-urban interface while protecting local watersheds and municipal water supplies. The contract will be structured as a firm-fixed price purchase order with three pricing options: a base requirement of 500 acres, Option 2 for 260 acres, and Option 3 for 535 acres, with a total estimated maximum of 1,295 acres. The government will evaluate proposals using the Lowest Price Technically Acceptable method to determine the best value. All quotes must be submitted electronically to awhetham@blm.gov by 4:00 p.m. Mountain Time on Wednesday, June 25, 2025.
This solicitation is set aside exclusively for small businesses under NAICS code 115310 (Support Activities for Forestry - Fuels Management Services) with a size standard of $34.0 million. No incumbent contractor information is provided in the solicitation materials. While specific contract values are not disclosed, the pricing structure requires contractors to submit per-acre rates for each of the three acreage options, with the final award amount dependent on the bid price per acre and available funding. The work will be performed on Bureau of Land Management-administered lands near Penasco and Dixon, New Mexico, with the primary goal of establishing defensible space around critical infrastructure. Contractors must be registered and active in the System for Award Management (SAM) and provide their Unique Entity ID and CAGE code with their submission.
