About this opportunity

The Department of the Army National Guard's 149th Fighter Wing at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, Texas is seeking to procure a new high-volume air compressor for their Fuel Shop in Building 946. The current portable air compressors are inadequate for operating critical maintenance equipment including external tank certifiers and tiger vacs used for F-16 aircraft fuel tank maintenance operations. The procurement requires an air compressor with minimum specifications of 98 CFM air volume and 125 psi air pressure, along with an integrated system drier and utilization of the facility's existing 480v 3-phase electrical supply. The contractor must provide a turnkey installation including all necessary piping and wiring components. The government will evaluate proposals based on multiple factors including price, delivery time, and technical acceptance, with the pre-solicitation notice posted on July 16, 2025, and responses due by August 29, 2025.

This procurement opportunity is designated as a Total Small Business set-aside, restricting participation to qualifying small business entities. The compressor system is specifically needed to support troubleshooting and repair operations for F-16 external fuel tanks, indicating the critical nature of this equipment for aircraft maintenance operations. No incumbent contractors or current service providers are identified in the solicitation documentation. The procurement falls under NAICS code 333912 for Air and Gas Compressor Manufacturing and PSC code 4310 for Compressors and Vacuum Pumps. While no specific award values or budget ranges are disclosed in the pre-solicitation notice, the requirement for a turnkey installation with electrical and piping work suggests a substantial procurement value beyond just equipment costs.
