About this opportunity

The U.S. Forest Service is conducting a Request for Information on forest products interests and contract preferences across Colorado's National Forests, with responses due by December 1, 2026. This RFI is market research only and does not constitute a solicitation, commit the Government to future procurement, or obligate award of any contract or timber sale.

The RFI applies to potential timber offerings across seven Colorado National Forests: Arapaho & Roosevelt, Grand Mesa/Uncompahgre & Gunnison, Pike & San Isabel, Rio Grande, San Juan, White River, and Routt. The Forest Service seeks input from timber purchasers, forest product companies, wood processors, biomass users, and forest-related businesses operating in or near Colorado.

Respondents should provide detailed information on forest products of interest, including species and product types such as sawtimber, pulpwood, biomass, posts and poles, and specialty products; desired product specifications by diameter, length, quality, form, and volume; and anticipated future product needs or market trends. The Forest Service also requests information on desired quantities, including approximate annual volume needs by product type, minimum and maximum volume thresholds, and volume variability or flexibility based on market conditions. Input on preferred contract duration and structure is encouraged.

Responses are voluntary and will not be used to evaluate or prequalify respondents for any future procurement actions or timber sales. The Forest Service will use the information to evaluate current and emerging market needs, assess interest in different contract structures, and plan future offerings supporting forest health, economic development, and long-term stewardship.
