About this opportunity
The U.S. Air Force Reserve Command, specifically the 911th Airlift Wing located in Coraopolis, PA, is conducting market research to identify potential vendors for food service catering during monthly Unit Training Assemblies (UTAs) from May through December 2025. The agency is seeking a food service provider capable of preparing lunches for approximately 700 meals over two days each month, with meals to be prepared within 15 road miles of their defense facility. This is a Sources Sought notice, which means the government is preliminarily assessing vendor capabilities and market availability before formally soliciting bids. All potential contractors must be registered in the System for Award Management (SAM) database and will need to submit an estimated price per person for a typical lunch meal. Responses must be electronically submitted to maurice.kirkland.3@us.af.mil no later than April 4, 2025, at 5:00 PM Eastern time.
The pre-solicitation notice indicates no specific small business set-aside has been predetermined, and the government will use the submitted responses to help decide on potential set-aside designations. The contract falls under NAICS code 722320 (Caterers) with a size standard of $9.0 million. Vendors will be expected to provide fully cooked meals served in aluminum buffet trays, maintaining proper food temperatures (140°F for hot items, 41°F for cold items), and offering varied monthly menus that include an entree, side, salad, and condiments. The government will require meals for up to 350 personnel during each monthly training weekend, with potential additional out-of-cycle training requirements. Notably, the Service Contract Act Labor rates will not apply to this procurement, which may influence potential bidders' pricing strategies.
