About this opportunity
The Department of the Air Force Materiel Command Test Center is conducting a Sources Sought Notice to research potential suppliers for a Fiber Laser Engraver to be delivered to Holloman AFB, New Mexico. The market research aims to determine the technical capabilities of small and large businesses in providing a tabletop laser engraver with specific operational requirements, including a 20-30 watt fiber laser capable of engraving various materials like electrical ceramic, plastics, and metals. Interested businesses must submit a comprehensive response by 10:00 AM Central Time on June 11, 2025, via email to designated Air Force contacts. The submission requirements include detailed company information, business size classification, CAGE code, SAM.gov UEI, comments on draft specifications, available contract vehicles, a 3-page capability package, and estimated pricing. The government will use these submissions to determine the procurement method, which could result in a single source acquisition, a small business set-aside, or full and open competition.
The Sources Sought Notice does not currently have a specific set-aside designation, though small businesses are encouraged to participate in the market research. The draft specifications outline a detailed laser engraver with requirements including a Class 1 safety station, touch screen operations, Lasertrace and Gravostyle software, multiple communication interfaces, online training, and a 24-month parts/labor warranty. The procurement falls under NAICS code 333517 (Machine Tool Manufacturing) with a size standard of 500 employees. The contractor will be expected to deliver the system within 6 weeks after receipt of order, with the anticipated procurement method to be determined based on the responses received. While no specific award value is mentioned, the notice suggests this will be a firm-fixed-price purchase order for a single laser engraver system to support the Air Force Instrumentation Flight's technical requirements.
