About this opportunity
The U.S. Coast Guard Shore Infrastructure Logistics Center is seeking small businesses capable of fabricating and delivering wood piles, medium density overlay (MDO) plywood, and range kits for Aids to Navigation (ATON) mission support. The anticipated procurement is for an Indefinite Delivery Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) contract with fixed-price delivery orders, which will include economic price adjustments for lumber, wood products, and diesel fuel. The contract will have a base year and four option years, with an expected start date on or before June 2025. Interested vendors must complete and return a detailed questionnaire by February 5, 2025, at 3:00 p.m. via email to specified Coast Guard contacts. The agency will use the responses to determine whether the solicitation can be set aside for small businesses, with the applicable North American Industrial Classification Code (NAICS) being 423310 and the small business size standard set at 150 employees.
The market research will evaluate vendors' capabilities to provide specific wood products, including wood piles in lengths of 45, 50, 55, and 60 feet, MDO plywood for dayboard construction, and range kits in sizes of 10, 12, 14, and 16 square feet. Technical requirements include stringent specifications for wood treatment, hardware composition, and preservation standards, with vendors needing to demonstrate ability to meet ASTM and AWPA requirements. The procurement will require self-offloading capabilities for wood piles and minimum load quantities of 35 wood piles, 4 range kits, or 1000 MDO sheets per truck. While no specific award value is mentioned, the comprehensive technical specifications and multi-year contract structure suggest a potentially significant procurement opportunity for qualified small businesses in the lumber and wood products merchant wholesaler sector.
