About this opportunity
The National Institutes of Health Office of Logistics and Acquisition Operations is conducting a sole-source procurement of an EndoDry Cabinet for the Department of Perioperative Medicine, with responses due September 26, 2026. The requirement is restricted to Steris Corporation based on the cabinet's unique capability to provide continuous instrument air drying—a feature the contracting activity determined is exclusive to Steris among manufacturers identified during market research. The procurement is justified under FAR 13.106-1(b) for limited competition when only one source is available and is valued between $10,000 and $250,000. The EndoDry Cabinet will support safe storage and protection of endoscopes from damage and contamination in a controlled environment, reducing equipment repair and replacement costs while supporting best-practice scope turnover between patient use. Each cabinet drawer can be configured with expiration dates for scope removal and reprocessing. The contracting activity found that alternative drying cabinets using HEPA filtration cannot meet the minimum storage and installation requirements; the department's existing infrastructure is already equipped to support this cabinet's specifications. The sole-source justification was signed July 27, 2026.
Notice text
The Department of Perioperative Medicine is requesting the purchase of an EndoDry Cabinet to support safe storage of endoscopes by protecting them from damage and contamination in a controlled environment. Reducing endoscope damage and improving the storage conditions leads to cost savings due to repairs and replacements of damaged scopes which happen when scopes are handled frequently between patient use. Additionally, this process is best practice when turning over scopes in between patients.
