About this opportunity

The Department of Justice Bureau of Prisons Correctional Facilities has issued a Special Notice regarding the cancellation of a solicitation for Embroidery Machines. This solicitation, which was set aside for small businesses, was posted on April 17, 2026, with an original due date of April 24, 2026. The notice falls under the Industrial Sewing Machines and Mobile Textile Repair Shops category (PSC 3530) and involves industrial machinery and equipment typically classified under NAICS 423830. The government has determined that proceeding with this solicitation in its current form is not in the best interest of the federal government.

The primary objective of this Special Notice is to inform potential contractors that the current solicitation will not result in any award due to identified deficiencies in the technical requirements. The government found that the original solicitation contained ambiguous and insufficiently defined technical specifications, including unclear performance characteristics, support expectations, and configuration preferences, which prevented fair and equitable evaluation of vendor quotations. As a result, no award will be made under the current solicitation. Small businesses interested in this opportunity should note that the government intends to reissue a revised solicitation with clarified specifications on SAM.gov, and contractors are encouraged to monitor that platform for the updated posting. The revised solicitation will provide clearer technical requirements to ensure all quotations can be evaluated on an equitable basis.

Notice text

The Government has determined that the solicitation contained ambiguous and insufficiently defined technical requirements (e.g., performance characteristics, support expectations, and configuration preferences), which resulted in quotations that cannot be evaluated on a common and equitable basis. Therefore, cancellation is in the best interest of the Government.

After evaluating the current solicitation the government has identified that certain technical requirements may not be sufficiently clear to ensure quotations are evaluated on a common basis.

The Government intends to cancel this solicitation and reissue it with revised specifications. Vendors are advised that no award will be made under the current solicitation.

A revised solicitation is anticipated to be posted on SAM.gov.
