About this opportunity
The Federal Bureau of Prisons (FBOP) is conducting market research for an elevator modernization project at the Federal Detention Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The project involves overhauling four existing passenger elevators, which will require replacing obsolete controllers with microprocessor control and drive systems to improve reliability and reduce power consumption. Interested contractors must be registered in SAM.gov and possess the North American Industrial Classification System (NAICS) code 238290, with a small business size standard of $22 million. Potential vendors are required to complete and submit a detailed questionnaire to Joshua Cortez at j2xcortez@bop.gov by January 12, 2025. Contractors must also add their names to the Interested Vendors List in SAM.gov to be considered for the subsequent solicitation.
The contract is set aside exclusively for small businesses, with an estimated project value between $1 million and $5 million, as specified in Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) 36.204. The anticipated performance period for the project is 875 calendar days, during which the selected contractor will provide all necessary equipment, labor, materials, and incidentals to complete the elevator modernization. Vendors will need to demonstrate their capabilities through the submitted questionnaire, which will assess their business size status, subcontracting plans, socioeconomic program eligibility, timeline requirements, and potential security clearance considerations. The project falls under the PSC category Z2FF for repair or alteration of penal facilities, and the FBOP will use the submitted information to determine the most suitable small business contractor for this federal contract opportunity.
