About this opportunity
The Bureau of Land Management Nevada Region is seeking a contractor to perform hazardous fuels reduction services in the Duck Creek Basin area of White Pine County, Nevada. The project involves hand piling and cutting/piling of pinyon and juniper trees across 538 total acres divided into four units: Duck Creek Basin Units 1-3 (414 acres for hand piling) and Sawmill Unit 4 (124 acres for cut and pile operations). The contractor must construct hand piles between 5-7 feet in diameter and 4-6 feet in height, maintain no more than one live pinyon or juniper stem per acre, and pile all slash greater than 2 inches in diameter. The procurement will be awarded using a best value, trade-off evaluation process that considers technical capabilities, past performance, and price, with technical and past performance combined being more important than price. Questions about the solicitation are due by July 24, 2025, and electronic quotes must be submitted to Caitlyn Warner at cwarner@blm.gov by July 31, 2025 at 1:00 PM PST.
This is a 100% small business set-aside contract under NAICS code 115310 (Support Activities for Forestry) with a size standard of $34 million. The contract has a performance period from October 1, 2025 to September 30, 2026, with work completion required within 30 days of award and strict environmental timing restrictions that prohibit work between February 28th and July 31st due to sensitive resource considerations. The work will be performed approximately 16 miles northeast of Ely, Nevada, with contractors paid on a per-acre basis through separate line items for hand pile and cut and pile treatments. Final payment is contingent upon satisfactory project completion and government inspection, and the project is designed to support community and watershed protection through vegetation management with prescribed fire planned to remove the created slash piles.
