About this opportunity
The Department of the Interior Bureau of Land Management Idaho Region seeks vegetation management services for hand-thinning and slash piling on Douglas Hill in Colorado, with quotes due June 11, 2026. The procurement is set aside for small businesses under NAICS 115310 and will be evaluated on a Lowest Price Technically Acceptable basis.
Work is performed at 455 Emerson Street, Craig, Colorado 81625, located 2.26 miles west/southwest of Greystone in Moffat County. Phase I covers 567.8 base acres; Phase II is optional and covers an additional 447.7 acres with an anticipated exercise date of 30 days. The performance period runs from August 15, 2026, through December 15, 2026 (120 days from Notice to Proceed). Prices must be submitted on a per-acre basis using the attached Price Bid Schedule.
Scope requires chainsaw hand-thinning to remove pinyon and juniper trees 12 inches or less in diameter breast height, cutting ladder fuels from larger ponderosa pines, and creating slash piles 10–15 feet in size positioned 30 or more feet apart. Amendment 0001 (issued June 9, 2026) clarifies that piles may be placed on sagebrush to meet spacing requirements provided this practice remains limited and non-routine; contractors may tent camp at the site absent fire restriction closures. The contractor must provide all equipment and labor, comply with OSHA safety standards, maintain spark arresters and firefighting equipment, control noxious weeds, and meet Service Contract Act prevailing wage requirements ranging from $14.02 to $26.38 per hour depending on occupation, plus $5.55 per hour health and welfare. Government inspections throughout performance will enforce a minimum 85 percent Acceptable Quality Level. A site visit is scheduled for June 1, 2026, at noon MDT near Greystone. Questions and the point of contact are Linda Neely, BLM FA-National Interagency Fire Center, Boise, Idaho, 458-899-4077.
