About this opportunity
The U.S. Department of State's Bureau of Administration is conducting market research for nationwide locksmith services covering 85 locations across the National Capital Region and other U.S. territories. The procurement seeks a contractor capable of providing comprehensive lock installation, maintenance, and repair services for doors, vaults, safes, cabinets, and secure spaces, with specialized expertise in various lock systems including Kaba, Medeco, Mortise, Mosler, and Unican technologies. Contractors must demonstrate the ability to provide 24/7 rapid response support, with 2-3 hour response times in the DC metropolitan area and 2-day response times for other domestic locations. The Sources Sought/Request for Information (RFI) requires interested vendors to submit electronic responses by January 31, 2025, at 5:00 PM Eastern to specific Department of State contacts: Sarah Duncan, Sara Wynes, and Richard Sanders. Potential contractors must possess appropriate security clearances and GSA approvals for working on security containers.
The procurement is classified under NAICS code 561622 for Locksmiths and is not designated for any specific set-aside category. The anticipated contract structure includes one base year with four optional one-year extensions, with an estimated 760 work orders anticipated annually (580 in the National Capital Region and 180 in other locations). While specific budget ranges were not explicitly disclosed, the comprehensive nationwide coverage and extensive service requirements suggest a potentially significant contract value. Contractors will need to demonstrate capabilities across multiple lock types, including electromagnetic locks, cipher locks, panic hardware, and video-intercom systems. The Department of State's market research aims to identify qualified vendors with the technical expertise, geographic reach, and responsiveness required to support their security infrastructure across diverse locations.
