About this opportunity
The Bureau of Engraving and Printing (BEP) is conducting market research to procure safety footwear services for its District of Columbia Facility (DCF), targeting approximately 1,200 employees who require safety shoes in specific work areas. The agency seeks to establish a service contract with multiple shoe mobile vendors to provide safety footwear that meets ASTM and ANSI safety standards, including various boot types in men's and women's sizes. The procurement will involve a twelve-month base period with four potential twelve-month option periods, running from June 2025 to June 2030. Potential vendors are required to submit a three-page Capability Statement by 4 PM EST on April 4, 2025, to Dawn Baran via email, detailing staff expertise, prior similar projects, corporate experience, and government contract references. The market research aims to determine the appropriate acquisition method and assess vendor capabilities through voluntary responses.
The procurement is not set aside for any specific business category, making it open to all qualified vendors. The BEP will reimburse up to $140 per pair of safety shoes, with employees covering any costs exceeding that threshold. Each shoe mobile vendor will be expected to visit the facility twice during the performance period, serving approximately 90 employees per scheduled stop. Vendors must provide shoes within 15 calendar days and offer a three-month warranty on their products. The contract will require vendors to stock a comprehensive range of safety footwear, including uninsulated, insulated, electrical hazard, pull-on, and logger boots in sizes ranging from men's 6-15 and women's 5-11, with multiple width options. The procurement falls under the NAICS category 316210 (Footwear Manufacturing) and PSC category 8430 (Men's Footwear), with the shoe mobile services to be conducted at the facility located at 301 14th Street SW in Washington, DC.
