About this opportunity
The Defense Logistics Agency intends to solicit a High-Precision Horizontal Differential Dilatometer System, a single unit, with formal solicitation expected June 4, 2026 and a pre-solicitation response due June 3, 2026. No set-aside is anticipated.
The system will be installed and operated at the DLA Product Test Center, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The requirement is a fully automated horizontal differential dilatometer capable of measuring dimensional changes in material specimens across temperatures from ambient to 1100°C in air, vacuum, or inert gas environments. The primary instrument must feature a Linear Variable Displacement Transducer sensor, achieve 10 nanometer/0.05°C resolution and 0.01 × 10⁻⁶ K⁻¹ accuracy, accommodate cylindrical samples up to 50 millimeters length and 7 millimeters diameter, and fit within 30 inches wide by 24 inches deep by 24 inches high of bench space. The system must operate on either 208 VAC or 120 VAC, single phase, 50/60 Hz at 30 amps maximum, and include a 5 kilowatt double-conversion UPS with batteries. The turnkey package includes a gas supply module with minimum two gas inputs and 10 liters per hour flow control, a two-stage mechanical vacuum pump with 2.5 cubic meters per hour pumping speed, Windows-compatible computer with integrated OEM data analysis software, and accessories. Software must enable thermal expansion coefficient analysis, softening and transformation point identification, and shrinkage and density change studies.
Delivery is required within 90 days of award. OEM-certified on-site installation per ISO 9001, basic operational training for up to six individuals, and one-year comprehensive warranty covering parts and labor are included. Post-warranty support comprises one annual preventative maintenance visit, priority technical support, complete repair coverage with parts and travel costs, and discounted consumables. NIST-traceable ANSI/NCSL Z540.1 calibration certificates with data are required upon installation.
