About this opportunity
The Department of Defense issued Amendment 01 to the Department of War Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) and Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) Program Solicitations, set aside exclusively for small businesses, with research topics pre-releasing on the first Wednesday of each month throughout fiscal year 2026. The program aims to stimulate technological innovation by strengthening small business participation in DoW research and development needs, delivering innovative technology to the Warfighter, and growing the defense industrial base through commercialization. Four solicitation vehicles are available: DoW SBIR 2026 Broad Agency Announcement, DoW SBIR 2026 Commercial Solutions Opening, DoW STTR 2026 BAA, and DoW STTR 2026 CSO. Amendment 01 provides programmatic updates resulting from SBIR/STTR reauthorization, including revisions to Discretionary Technical and Business Assistance, SBA Company Registry requirements, submission details, and addition of a Direct to Phase II Program option for STTR solicitations. Each monthly topic release carries distinct open and close dates. Proposers must register on the Defense SBIR/STTR Innovation Portal (DSIP) at dodsbirsttr.mil to access full solicitation documents and register for the DSIP Listserv to receive program updates.
