About this opportunity

The Department of Veterans Affairs Veterans Health Administration Veterans Integrated Service Network 22, through Network Contracting Office 22 in Long Beach, California, has published a Special Notice announcing their intent to award a sole source contract for DSS Pyxis IV Prep Software System Support. The contract is intended for Minburn Technology Group and will be structured as a five-year agreement with one 12-month base year and four 12-month option years, valued at approximately $110,127 total. This procurement is being conducted under the authority of 38 U.S.C. 8127(b), which allows for sole source awards to Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Businesses. The software support is needed for the VA Greater Los Angeles Healthcare System's existing proprietary Rx Framework Pyxis IV Prep Hardware System, which interfaces with VistA for prescription medication dispensing. The NAICS code for this opportunity is 513210 (Software Publishers) with a PSC code of DA10 for IT and Telecom Business Application Software as a Service.

The primary objective is to maintain and support the specialized DSS Pyxis IV Prep Software that provides critical interfacing capabilities between VistA and automation equipment for medication dispensing at VA facilities. The software enables direct order transmission to BD IV Prep equipment and allows for streamlined label generation, capabilities that are unique to this proprietary system and not available through alternative interfaces like PADE. Interested contractors must submit capability statements by June 11, 2025, at 11:00 AM Pacific Time via email to dyne.kim@va.gov to demonstrate their ability to provide the requested services. While this is intended as a sole source award, the VA will consider submissions from all responsible sources before making the final award decision. The procurement follows Federal Acquisition Regulation requirements for contract action information dissemination, and vendors are responsible for marking any proprietary information in their submissions. No capability briefings will be conducted, and the government will not reimburse vendors for any information provided.

Background:

DSS Pyxis IV Prep Software provides the interfacing capabilities of providing straightforward communication between VistA and automation equipment. It is necessary in order for equipment to be able to receive information and communicate with VA facility technology. DSS Pyxis IV Prep Software / Rx Framework is the only interface with ability to have order information able to be transmitted to BD IV Prep and can therefore utilize the equipment labels rather than generating separate VistA labels. It allows for streamlined usage of equipment rather than requiring workaround that PADE interface may require. Additional and missing doses are also able to be queued directed to the equipment which is not possible with PADE.

Objectives:

VA Greater Los Angeles Healthcare System (VAGLAHS) is requesting purchase of DSS Pyxis IV Prep Software System Support for/on existing proprietary Rx Framework Pyxis IV Prep Hardware System to communicate with VistA in dispensing prescription medication at VAGLAHCS.
