About this opportunity
The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) is soliciting quotations for custom magneto-resistive sensors, specifically magneto-tunneling junction (MTJ) sensors designed for use in a scanning magnetic microscope under the CHIPS Metrology Project. These bare-die detectors must meet precise technical specifications, including field sensitivity requirements of 1 nT/(Hz)^0.5 at both 10 kHz and 1 kHz, operation from DC to 100 kHz, and functionality across a temperature range of 10°C to 85°C. The contract requires submission of firm-fixed-price quotations in three volumes: a technical quotation demonstrating compliance with all Statement of Work requirements, a price quotation including all shipping costs as FOB Destination, and terms and conditions acceptance or exceptions. Award will be made to the lowest-priced, technically acceptable offeror based on initial quotations without discussions. Offerors must submit quotations electronically by 5:00 PM Eastern Time on April 21, 2026, with pre-quote inquiries due by April 9, 2026, and all quotations must remain valid for 90 days from the due date.
This is an unrestricted procurement with no set-aside designations, and no incumbent contractor information is provided in the solicitation. The contract calls for delivery of two minimum wafers: Wafer #1 containing at least 100 single pixel sensors and Wafer #2 containing at least 4 arrays with a minimum of 2,500 sensors arranged in 2D format, with individual pixel dimensions of 2 mm × 2 mm. Design drawings are required with a 15-day lead time for initial designs and 20 days for final designs, with the complete delivery, including final wafers, due no later than 250 days after order receipt, deliverable to NIST in Gaithersburg, Maryland as FOB Destination. Payment will be made at Net 30 days at 100% upon inspection and acceptance testing, with the Government anticipating acceptance within 7 business days of receipt. All items must be new, and the contractor must provide one year of technical support and warranty following delivery. All offerors must maintain active registration in the System for Award Management (SAM.gov) at submission and through final payment.
