About this opportunity
The Bureau of Engraving and Printing (BEP), a civilian agency under the Department of the Treasury, is seeking qualified suppliers capable of manufacturing offset, intaglio, and letterpress inks for U.S. currency production through this Sources Sought notice. This is a pre-solicitation notice issued to gather market information rather than an active solicitation or binding commitment to award a contract. Potential respondents must demonstrate technical capability to supply all four types of inks that meet government specifications and must submit supporting documentation including test samples, literature, delivery history with customer references, and confirmation that their products qualify as commercial items under FAR 2.101. The evaluation will assess supplier capability, product quality, delivery performance, and contract terms flexibility, with the government seeking to identify alternate sources for production-ready material samples for testing and evaluation. Responses must be submitted by March 11, 2026, to Wesley Rankins, the Contracting Officer, at wesley.rankins@bep.gov, with a formal solicitation anticipated to follow at a later date.
No set-aside designations are applied to this opportunity, and no incumbent contractors are identified in the notice. While no specific award value or budget range is disclosed, the BEP anticipates issuing a formal solicitation with a tentative five-year period of performance and is seeking contract lengths ranging from 60 to 120 months, indicating a substantial, long-term procurement. The notice indicates that the BEP currently uses multiple offset inks for all currency denominations except $1 and $2 notes, along with various intaglio and letterpress inks, suggesting the potential for significant ongoing supply requirements. Respondents should indicate availability on GSA Schedule contracts and provide comprehensive organizational information including DUNS numbers and technical and administrative points of contact. All response costs are the responsibility of the respondent, and respondents may execute a Non-Disclosure Agreement with the BEP to protect proprietary information submitted during the evaluation process.
